Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail has plenty of new materials for players to gather in the fifth expansion. One of the trickier materials to get in FFXIV Dawntrail is the Sungilt Aethersand, which will require players to go to solid lengths to obtain. But it is worth it for its use in multiple crafting recipes.
Where to Get Sungilt Aethersand in FFXIV Dawntrail
There are two main ways to get Sungilt Aethersand at this time. The first is the way that doesn’t require extra Gil or money and that is by fishing. You need a gatherer (Fisher, Miner, or Botanist) that is able to get high-level Dawntrail collectible items. The following five items will give you the chance of obtaining Sungilt Aethersand upon collecting them and then using Aetherial Reduction:
- Shovelnose Catfish: Kozama’uka
- Horned Frog: Yak T’el
- Sunlit Prism: Yak T’el
- Electrocoal: Heritage Found
- Goldbranch: Shaaloani
Personally, I don’t recommend this method since it takes up way too much time. You’re better off these days just buying Sungilt Aethersand off of the Market Board. You can generally get them in bulk for a pretty fair price. Alternatively, you can also buy it from the Scrip Exchange for 100 Orange Gatherers’ Scrips, but that is also a bit pricey.
All Sungilt Aethersand Crafting Recipes
Once you have some Sungilt Aethersand in FFXIV, you are now ready to start using it in various crafting recipes. Here are all of the crafting recipes that use Sungilt Aethersand:
- Grade 1 and 2 Gemdraught of Strength: Alchemist Level 100
- Gemdraught of Dexterity (1 and 2): Alchemist Level 100
- Gemdraught of Vitality (1 and 2): Alchemist Level 99
- Grade 1 Gemdraught of Intelligence (1 and 2): Alchemist Level 100
- Gemdraught of Mind (1 and 2): Alchemist Level 99
- Grade 2 Gemsap of Strength: Alchemist Level 100
- Grade 2 Gemsap of Dexterity: Alchemist Level 100
- Gemsap of Vitality: Alchemist Level 100
- Gemsap of Intelligence: Alchemist Level 100
- Grade 2 Gemsap of Mind: Alchemist Level 100
