To kick off Destiny 2 The Final Shape, Bungie has given players the free Red Death Reformed Exotic weapon in the game’s Season Pass. This guide will break down how to get the Red Death Reformed Catalyst in Destiny 2 and explain what it does.
Destiny 2 Red Death Reformed Catalyst Explained
To unlock the Red Death Reformed Catalyst in Destiny 2, you need to reach rank 145 on the game’s Season Pass. Unfortunately, there is no mission or other way to unlock it. So players are going to have to do a lot of grinding before they can finally get their hands on it.
Making matters worse is that the Red Death Reformed Catalyst is time-gated and is locked behind the Episode: Echoes Act 2 tier of the Season Pass. So, you will need to wait until July 2024 before you can even get it.
What the Destiny 2 Red Death Reformed Catalyst Does
However, the wait is completely worth it as the Red Death Reformed Catalyst is a massive upgrade to the Exotic Pulse Rifle. In particular, it transforms the gun’s healing mechanic so that it now heals allies as well.
The Exotic Rifle was already pretty broken with its self-heals. This now makes it one of the top-tier guns in the whole game. Here is what the Catalyst does:
- Red Death Reformed Catalyst Masterwork
- Unlock Requirements: Defeat Targets with Red Death Reformed equipped.
- Perk: Final blows charge this weapon. When the weapon is charged, the next final blow creates a healing burst at your location and leaves a remnant behind that provides restoration to allies.
Destiny 2 Red Death Reformed Catalyst Release Date
The Red Death Reformed Catalyst will be released in Destiny 2 on July 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM PDT or 1:00 PM EST. For your convenience, we have provided a chart below that shows when you can get the catalyst in your region:
Region | Red Death Reformed Catalyst Release Time | Date |
US | 10:00 AM (PDT), 1:00 PM (EST) | Tuesday, July 16, 2024. |
UK | 6:00 PM (GMT) | Tuesday, July 16, 2024. |
Japan | 2:00 AM (JST) | Wednesday, July 17, 2024. |
While we know that the Red Death Reformed Catalyst will be available starting on July 16, 2024, the release time can be subject to change. Typically, Destiny 2 servers go back up at 10 AM PDT. So if Bungie sticks to their usual pattern, then we should have a pretty good idea.
That means you have over 41 days to grind out the Season Pass to reach Rank 142 in Destiny 2 The Final Shape. It should also be noted that the Act II tier of the pass also doesn’t unlock until July 16, 2024, so players might have to wait a few weeks after that until they have enough points to access the Catalyst.
Destiny 2 The Final Shape is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
