Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is all about making one of the most farming-forward and streamlined gameplay experiences in the series. To this point, even the crops work a bit differently than in other games. This can even make knowing how to grow crops in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life a complicated matter. The growing times are different, and you also need to water them twice per day.

Growing crops in this game works like most other titles. You get the seeds, plant them, water them twice daily, and then wait for them to finish growing. You can then harvest them to sell, give as gifts, or use in recipes. But the wait is a bit different for crops in this game.

How long does it take to grow crops in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?

Because of how the schedule works in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you only have 10 days before the next season begins. As such, your window of time to grow season-specific crops is a bit more frustratingly strict, and missing one of the twice-daily watering times can hurt you.

Here are the windows of time for how long it takes to grow crops using the base seeds in the title:

  • Watermelon: 7 days (Spring and Summer only)
  • Tomato: 5 days (Spring-Fall only)
  • Melon: 7 days (Summer and Fall only)
  • Turnip: 5 days (Summer-Winter)
  • Sweet Potato: 5 days (Fall)
  • Carrot: 9 days (Fall and Winter)
  • Strawberry: 7 days (Fall-Spring)
  • Potato: 8 days (Winter and Spring)

You’ll want to act fast and take advantage of each day to plant, water, and ensure that your crops are constantly growing to maximize your potential. For instance, if you grow sweet potatoes, they can only grow during the Fall season. Since they take five days to complete, you can only harvest them twice in a single season if you plant them on the first day of the Fall. However, some plants do grow over multiple seasons. So carrots that haven’t finished growing yet by Fall 10 will still be viable on Winter 1.

Can You Make Crops Grow Faster?

With how swift the seasons go in this game, it might make you want to speed up how long it takes to grow your crops. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to do that unlike some other games. You can use fertilizer on your plants, but this only upgrades the grade of your crops and doesn’t speed up the process.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
