How do I get an Ancient Arowana in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Ancient Arowana is found in ponds, with the Sky Islands being the best place to look for the elusive fish. Like Hylian Rice, I’ve secured a handful of fruitful farming spots that I use whenever I find myself wanting to stock up on them.

Here’s where I recommend looking for Ancient Arowana in Tears of the Kingdom, where you’ll find at least three at any one time:

  • Great Sky Island: map coordinates  0335, -1118, 1511.
  • Great Sky Island: map coordinates 0262, -1080, 1402.
  • Great Sky Island: map coordinates 0541, -0979, 1414.
  • Great Sky Island: map coordinates 0614, -0936, 1477.
  • Necluda Sky Archipelago: map coordinates 2131, -2618, 1260.
  • Mipha’s Court, Zora’s Domain: map coordinates 3745, 0418, 0537.

OK, I’ve found an Ancient Arowana… How do I catch it?

The Ancient Arowana is fast. Be stealthy and sneak up on them by crouching, or they’ll swim away. If you have the Majora’s Mask item, this is the perfect opportunity to use it, as it makes Link less detectable when sneaking.

If you’d rather take the all-guns-blazing approach, you will need a healthy Stamina bar to try and swim to catch Ancient Arowana in Tears of the Kingdom.

While these two methods are fine, I’d recommend attaching a Shock Fruit to an arrow to create a Shock Arrow, then shooting it into the water. This will electrocute all the fish in the water and cause them to float on the surface, allowing you to collect them all quickly without the hassle.
