When you first get the magic staff in Fae Farm, you have no spells to use with it. All you can do is use it as a weapon to attack the enemies you’ll encounter in dungeons. Specifically, it’s the weapon you need before you can head into Saltwater Mines. However, you can eventually learn four magic spells, each of which has both an in-battle and in-world use. Getting those four means progressing through story quests, however.
How to get all four Fae Farm spells
Each of the four spells in Fae Farm is tied to one of the elemental sprites in Azoria. This means that in the case of four of them, you need to first go through 25-floor dungeons to reach the character to get the quest that unlocks their ability. So you’ll unlock Vortex first, then Faerie Fire, Charm, and finally Bash.

- Vortex: Unlocked via Neppy’s “A Watery Wonder” quest. Can be used to clear shadowy and foggy ground in the overworld. Can be used as an AOE attack that pushes enemies away in dungeons.
- Faerie Fire: Unlocked via Boletal’s Nintendo Switch and PC.
