How do I get Alchemical Ink in Nightingale?

As it is one of the most valuable resources, ink can be obtained within your first few hours. You will need to first complete the Byway Realms Tutorial, which will see you traveling through Nightingale‘s three available Biomes. (The amount of Biomes could change in the future, given that the game is in Early Access.)

Once you generate your first Biome, Puck will instruct you to find the Essence Trader. Now, there is no predetermined spot for this character to appear. This is because the worlds are randomly generated, with various landmarks and NPC locations changing upon each generation.

Instead you will need to look for a marker on your map that is indicated by a ticket icon. This looks somewhat like an old carnival ticket. Once you have located that, head to the Essence Trader.

You will need to purchase the recipe for the Simple Mortar Station. This will unlock the ability to craft Alchemical Ink, which will be required to create Realm Cards. Realm Cards are used to generate new Biomes, and they will also allow you place specific passive effects on said Biomes.

In order to craft Alchemical Ink you will need the following:

  • Glass
  • Refined Pigment

Refined Pigment can be crafted at the Simple Mortar Station using 2 Raw Berries, Flowers, or Mushrooms. Glass can be crafted with the use of a Simple Smelter (which is also purchased through the Essence Trader) by using 2 Gems.

Once you have obtained all of these materials, you can then craft your Alchemical Ink.

Nightingale is available in Steam Early Access on PCs.
