First and foremost, this particular black screen error generally seems to happen to users when they first boot up the game. It only appears to be an issue for PC users via Steam at this time, so PS4 and PS5 should be safe for now. When players start the game for the first time, they will see a black screen and nothing else.

Some users also report a flash, and then a few seconds later, Steam notes an error that the game isn’t responding. Regardless of how it occurs to you, this error prevents the player from properly booting up the game. This effectively means you can’t play it, and simple restarts don’t seem to fix the issue.

Fortunately, there are a few possible ways to fix the Granblue Fantasy Relink black screen error. Players should start by unplugging their controller (if they are using one), turning off Bluetooth, verifying the integrity of the game files, restarting their PC, and restarting Steam but in Administrator Mode.

Once you have done all of this, boot up the game again, and don’t press any key or button at all. Just sit there and wait. If this doesn’t help, you may have to open up your NVIDIA control panel to turn off V-Sync before starting the game since you can’t reach the game’s settings yet. These solutions seem to work for most players, as controllers and V-Sync often cause the issue. But if these don’t work for you, you may have to redownload the game and contact official Steam support.

Granblue Fantasy Relink is now available for PS4, PS5, and PC.
