Marvel Rivals is an always-online free-to-play superhero shooter title. With the always online nature of this game, it is inevitable that you will run into some issues and error messages. One such problem is the rather common Marvel Rivals server connection failed error, which you will want to fix in order to keep playing.
Server Connection Failed Error Explained
This particular error is a pretty obvious one to understand from the name of it. The general idea is this is an online-only game so you need to connect to the servers to play it. That said, if you run into an issue that prevents you from connecting to the servers online, you can get this error message.
All this error message means is you were unable to connect to the online servers. This is rather annoying since it means you can’t play until you reconnect. Furthermore, this issue may not necessarily be your fault, either, and could have to do with the state of the actual online servers.
How to Fix the Marvel Rivals Server Connection Failed
Fortunately, there are a few methods you can try to possibly fix the Marvel Rivals server connection failed error. I should note, though, I am making this before the game’s launch during the beta period, so there might be better support resources in the future.
For now, though, I suggest doing the following to try and fix this error message:
- Start by restarting the game if you haven’t already
- Reboot your console or PC and try again
- Test out other online games on the same platform and see if they work
- Check online to see if other players are having issues
- Submit a support request through the official Discord channel
Marvel Rivals will release sometime in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC following a closed beta in 2024.
