One of the earlier side quests you can do in Baldur’s Gate 3 has to do with finishing the Masterwork weapon. To begin this quest, you need to visit the Blighted Village in the Act 1 Wilderness map, west of the Emerald Grove. Head to the house east of the windmill in town and interact with Highcliff’s journal there to begin the quest.

How to Finish the Masterwork Weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3

Your goal with this quest is to find the blueprints for the Masterwork weapons and then decide which one to create. Here are the steps you need to take to finish the Masterwork weapon for Highcliff in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  1. Head into the room on the eastern side of the house and grab the key atop the fireplace.
  2. Use fire or a spell to break the spider web on the ground and enter the hole there.
  3. Hope your characters pass a perception check here. If not, be ready to experience a trap when you try to open the chest.
  4. Locate Highcliff’s weapon blueprints in the chest.
  5. Go to the Underdark map and find the Sussur Tree on the western side of the region.
  6. Interact with the tree’s roots to grab some Sussur Root, which is necessary for this quest.
  7. Head back to Highcliff’s house in the Blighted Village and find the furnace.
  8. Turn on the furnace and combine the Sussur Root you found with the furnace.
  9. Pick either a dagger, greatsword, or sickle from your inventory to turn into a Sussur version to complete the quest.

You have the option to make a Sussur Dagger, Sussur Greatsword, or Sussur Sickle in this quest. All three will have a buff that silences enemies when they’re hit, which is great for dealing with mages. I recommend simply picking the weapon your characters use the most.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for the PS5 and PC. It will also release for Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2023.
