Starfield’s ‘The Best There Is’ is one of the more nerve-wracking side missions you can take in the Crimson Fleet storyline. This quest tasks players with finding a prototype ship at a space station and stealing it. This is a challenging mission, but one you can easily beat if you follow the steps I have for you below.

The Starfield “The Best There Is” Crimson Fleet mission begins right after completing “Breaking the Bank” in the game. Delgado of the Crimson Fleet now has a new assignment, which is to reach the SY-920 staryard and steal their prototype ship, which will allow you to, hopefully, reach the vault down the line.
Here are the steps you should take to complete this mission. I recommend following them exactly, since they result in no casualties and the best rewards possible.
- Go to the Alpha Centauri System to New Atlantis on Jemison and then The Well to meet with Huan Daiyu.
- Join Huan Daiyu on her ship, The Jade Swan.
- Leave Huan’s ship and head to the nearby barracks.
- Sneak and steal one of the uniforms from the locker when no one is around.
- Use the uniform and your persuasion skill (if you have it) to get into the staryard.
- Head further in and follow the marker to steal Ensign Akasaka’s uniform next. Put it on.
- Take a look at the log to find the right password to use for Akasaka at the security clearance area.
- If you enter using the right password, you can explore and walk around freely but you may need to rely on persuasion if you mess up.
- Find a scientist coat in the Engineering Bay 4.
- Meet up with Gabriel Vogel and convince him you are the test pilot.
- Go to the nearby locker room and pick up the pilot suit.
- Use the vents nearby to discreetly reach the ship area.
- Convince the guard you are the test pilot.
- Board the ship and then take off in it using a grav jump before you can be shot down.
- Grav jump to The Key and then speak with Huan at the bar.
- Talk to Delgado to give him the good news.
- Return to the UC Vigilance and give Commander Ikande your report to complete the mission.
There are multiple ways to go through this mission but remember to go stealthy or use persuasion. If you kill any innocents, it could jeopardize your entire relationship with UC SysDef.
