With the recent release of Ark: Survival Ascended, many new players will have to choose which server to join. Unlike other multiplayers such as League of Legends or Fortnite, choosing the right server in Ark is essential, as these games can last far longer than your average PvP titles.
In Ark: Survival Ascended, matchups can last many in-game days. Compounding this is the lack of tutorial or explanation when you enter the game for the first time. Here is your guide to finding and creating servers in Ark: Survival Ascended.
How to find a Server in Ark: Survival Ascended
To find a server, simply click “Join Game” on the main menu page. This will take you to the lists of official, unofficial, or non-dedicated servers. Wildcard themselves run the official servers. These lists sort the games based on the current day of the server, the number of players, Player vs Player and Player vs environment, and whether or not mods are allowed.
Players should read each server’s specifications carefully before dropping in. Choose a younger server to find other newcomers or players at a similar level. Additionally, non-dedicated servers are run by another player independently. As such, games in these servers will be significantly smaller in scale and capacity. Lastly, you can create a list of your favorite servers that you have found.
How to create a Server in Ark: Survival Ascended
If none of the servers you find have the specifications you desire, or you just want to start fresh for yourself or your friends, you can create your own server. Simply click on the “Create Game” tab to do this. Here, you will be able to craft your own game. While you can choose your map, currently, the classic island is the only one available for this feature. You are also able to download and permit mods onto the server.
Beyond that, the game gives players dozens of settings to finely tune their world. You can customize player rules, which items and status ailments are allowed, the behavior and stats of enemies, communication between players, dinosaur taming, and many others. Because most of these options are for experienced players, you should only adjust these settings with enough experience.
How to find a server on Discord
Another way to find a server in Ark: Survival Ascended is through the Discord community. Here, you will find many other players looking for members to join their tribes. There is also the option to sort between the different consoles the game is on.
Ark: Survival Ascended is now available on PC and is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later date.
