Tweaking your characters in JRPGs is a huge part of the strategy. In Visions of Mana, Ability Seeds play a crucial role in customizing your characters, offering additional skills or passive bonuses beyond what their class provides.
Each character begins with two Ability Seed slots, allowing for a limited amount of customization early on. However, as you progress through the game, expanding these slots becomes essential for maximizing your characters’ potential.
To acquire more Ability Seeds, you can find them in treasure chests scattered throughout the game world. Additionally, as you advance in the story, you’ll unlock the ability to convert monster corestones into Ability Seeds, including those obtained from powerful bosses. Boss corestones often yield particularly potent Ability Seeds, making them highly valuable for your loadout.
How to gain more Ability Seed slots in Vision of Mana
To expand the number of Ability Seed slots available to each character, you’ll need to seek out specific “chalice” items. These items are exclusive to each character and are not interchangeable.
For example you’ll need to find Palamena’s item, the Chalice of Heirdom, to increase her slots. These rare items are hidden in chests throughout the world, so exploration is key to enhancing your characters’ capabilities.
Each chalice item adds two additional slots for Ability Seeds, significantly increasing your customization options. With more slots, you can better tailor your characters to suit your playstyle, combining class skills, abilities, and the bonuses provided by Ability Seeds to create powerful and versatile builds.
Expanding your Ability Seed slots not only strengthens your characters but also adds a layer of strategic depth to the game. Carefully selecting and combining Ability Seeds can optimize your team’s performance for tougher late-game challenges.
Visions of Mana will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 29, 2024. A demo is available.
