Aipom is one of my personal favorite returning Pokemon in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. This Generation 2 Pokemon is back in The Teal Mask alongside its Generation 4 evolution Ambipom. Players are now able to transfer this Pokemon over from Home or catch it for the first time in Generation 9 and evolve it.

If you want to catch an Aipom for yourself in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are quite a few places to find this fun little Normal-type Pokemon. First and foremost, there is a requirement in these games for players who want Aipom. It is a version-exclusive only available in Pokemon Violet. You’ll have to trade if you are a Scarlet user.

Otherwise, it is quite easy to catch Aipom. You can generally find it roaming around the woods and mountains right to the east of Mossui Town, in between it and the Kitakami Hall. Once you capture an Aipom, you are now ready to work towards evolving it into the Generation 4 Normal-type Ambipom.

To get Ambipom, you fortunately don’t have to trade it or anything like that. However, Aipom doesn’t evolve naturally by leveling up in this game, either. Instead, what you want to do is teach the move Double Hit to Aipom, and then level it up once while it has it to evolve it into Ambipom.

Aipom learns Double Hit naturally at level 32. So, you’ll have to teach it that move then and then level it up one more time to level 33 to evolve it at the earliest. You can use experience candies, Rare Candies, or battles to level it up. If you catch an Aipom past level 32 and it doesn’t know Double Hit, you can always remember that move in the menu.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC, The Teal Mask, is available on Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk will release in Winter 2023.
