There’s no mistaking that the boss battles in Another Crab’s Treasure can be quite difficult, and Polluted Platoon Pathfinder is one of the game’s first major challenges. This guide will explain how to defeat Polluted Platoon Pathfinder in Another Crab’s Treasure.

Where to Find Polluted Platoon Pathfinder in Another Crab’s Treasure

In Another Crab’s Treasure, you can find the Polluted Platoon Pathfinder boss at the end of the Moon Caves. The boss will be waiting for you in a small ravine. There is an opening on the other side of the cave, but it’s blocked by a blue barrier. You need to defeat this boss in order to progress forward and find the shiny object for the Duchess.

How to Beat Polluted Platoon Pathfinder

Polluted Platoon Pathfinder’s attacks are strong but slow. While the boss swings at you in (sort of) quick succession, hide in your shell and try to move away. Its reach is surprisingly long, so it’s better that you’re hiding in your shell when you likely will get hit instead of taking the brunt of the damage yourself.

This boss deals so much damage that it can take you out in a couple of hits if you’re not careful. Between attacks, move to its left and attack it. It has a bit less reach to the left of it, and when it does attack, you have a slightly wider window to duck into your shell and move away.

Polluted Platoon Pathfinder’s Cleave

When the blue icon appears, Polluted Platoon Pathfinder is about to cleave. If this move hits, it will either completely take out your shell, or it will kill you. To deal with this, duck into your shell or sprint away the second the icon pops up on your screen. If you’re sprinting, sprint to the left or the right because this attack has a wide AoE directly in front of the Polluted Platoon Pathfinder, but not as much to the left or the right.

If you’re really close to Polluted Platoon Pathfinder when it is about to cleave, then hide in your shell and move towards the boss. Because it jumps just before it cleaves, you’ll be moving under it and thus avoiding the attack. This is the easiest and quickest way to dodge the cleave attack. While it might seem counterintuitive to move towards the attack, you will be protected if you are inside your shell.

What Shells Should I Use Against Polluted Platoon Pathfinder in Another Crab’s Treasure?

The soda pop can shells are the most accessible and available shells in this boss battle. They have pretty good defensive capabilities and are light enough for you to move around freely. Their Umami powers allow you to shoot bubbles at Polluted Platoon Pathfinder, dealing large amounts of damage and increasing its capsize bar.

Don’t use the nozzle or bottle cap shells because they will not be able to protect you from much damage. They will break instantly upon one attack and will probably take you down with it. Seriously, one hit with his cleave, and this tiny shell will be crushed to bits in seconds. So avoid it!

After Polluted Platoon Pathfinder does a combo of attacks, sprint away from it. It’s pretty slow, so that should give you a window of opportunity to heal. Because this boss is so slow, it’s perfectly doable to take your time. Capsizing the boss isn’t super useful in this fight, so if you miss out on Capsizing it, it’s not really a big deal.
