The 1.4 update for Hello Kitty Island Adventure added the ability to customize furniture, but first you need to unlock the Furniture Customizer. While it isn’t too taxing, it does mean unlocking another character and doing two quests over two days first.
How do I unlock the Furniture Customizer to customize items in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?
Well, first My Sweet Piano needs to be living on your island in the Resort Plaza. This means you need to build your friendship level with My Melody to 15, then go through the “A Friend Indeed” questline.
If you’ve done that and updated your game past 1.4. If you have and My Piano is around, you can head into My Melody’s Small Gift Big Smile store. Talk to My Sweet Piano, and she’ll explain that she wants to help people customize furniture in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This kicks off “The Fun in Furniture: Part 1.”
This quest is incredibly simple. You just need to get three kinds of items and bring them to My Sweet Piano. If you haven’t already collected Iron from Mount Hothead and crafted Mechanisms and Woodblocks, head to the Resort Plaza crafting bench near Chococat. Prepare the following items, then bring them back to My Melody and My Sweet Piano’s shop.
- 3 Iron
- 3 Mechanisms
- 3 Woodblocks
Note that you need three Gizmos from Chococat to craft one Mechanism and five wooden Sticks from gathering around the island to craft one Woodblock.
From there, you need to wait. The second part of the quest kicks off on the next real-world day. Go to see My Sweet Piano in the shop, and “The Fun in Furniture: Part 2” will begin after speaking to her. The Furniture Customizer is now there, but you need to test it. This means crafting a Cottage Dining Chair at a workbench, then bringing it back to change its colors.
First, to get the plans for the Cottage Dining Chair, you need to befriend My Sweet Piano and get her friendship level to four. That’s fairly easy to do even with one-star gifts, so you might already have the recipe. At a crafting bench, you need to use five wool and two woodblocks to create the chair. As wool is an item given to us by My Sweet Piano for giving her gifts, you probably already have enough on-hand.
Make the chair, then head back to talk to My Sweet Piano and use the Furniture Customizer. You can choose the fabric and wood color for this piece. Note that whenever you change the appearance of an item, you’ll need thread (from Tuxedosam), sticks (gathered from around the island), and dye to make the change. After selecting a new appearance for the Cottage Dining Chair, craft and apply it.
You’ll then talk to My Melody and My Sweet Piano again, and from there you’ll unlock permanent access to the Furniture Customizer in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
