Are you ready for some baseball? Because the Mayachin Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is batting practice. I’m not kidding. You make a bat, then swing at the right time to hit a ball up a ramp and into a target. There’s also an optional chest you can earn by swinging to hit a second target to get an Energizing Elixir.

This might be your first encounter with stakes. It was mine. They’re a way to attach things to items you normally couldn’t attach them to. So once you head into the shrine, go down to the main “game” area. Attach the two white cylinders end-to-end with Ultrahand. Then, attach the end of one to the flat part of the stake. Pick up your finished creation and put the pointy end of the stake into the flat end of the device near the end. You’ve created your bat!

Go up to the main floor. There’s a button and a pillar. Go to the button first and stand on it. When you do, the bullseye will appear on the left. Now, I recommend using a single-handed sword and hitting the pillar when you see the ball get about halfway down the track. I took a screenshot right before I was about to swing and get a successful hit, to offer a better sense of perspective.

When you hit the left bullseye successfully, the one on the right will appear. Using a stake on the ceiling above the hanging board, then Ultrahand to attach that board to it clears the way for you to hit that and get the Energizing potion. You’ll just need to wait longer to hit the ball to collect it. Or, you can head to the newly unlocked door, get your Light of Blessing, and complete Mayachin Shrine.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
