Final Fantasy XIV is a MMORPG game and, as the name suggests, it needs to be connected to the internet to work properly. As with any other online game, server issues can occasionally arise. There are two main ways you can check the FFXIV server status, either via the game client or The Lodestone official website.

How to check the server status via the Final Fantasy XIV game client:

To check the server status using the game client, you just have to open the launcher as usual. While on the login screen, you’ll see a meteor icon in the top right corner. Its color will change according to the server status as follows: green for online, yellow for partial maintenance, and red for maintenance. If you want a more thorough explanation, you can click on the icon, this will lead you to the server status screen. I do this when I have issues, and it lets me choose which data center to check on specifically.

How to check the Final Fantasy XIV server status via The Lodestone website:

You can also check via Final Fantasy XIV‘s The Lodestone Server Status page. To access it you have to hover the cursor over the news section located in the main page’s top left and then choose the Server Status option or just enter the next URL in your browser’s address bar: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/. Once inside, a full list of data centers and their respective servers’ status information will appear.

It’s worth remembering you can also use these tools to check if you can create a new character or not in each determined server. This can be confirmed by checking an icon resembling a person’s head, if it’s green and has a plus sign on the side, then new character creation is available, but if it’s red and shows an X then it’s temporarily restricted for that specific server. Additionally, this can help people looking to travel to other data centers as well, as it lets you know if it’s congested beforehand.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
