How to Change Outfits in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) costumes

There are five extra costumes people can wear in Final Fantasy XVI, with players able to change outfits for some characters. However, it isn’t as easy as heading into the system menu.

How do I change outfits in Final Fantasy XVI?

You need to be at Cid’s Hideaway to start changing how characters look in the game. On top of that, you also need to be at a certain point. If you’re at the beginning or only saw the first timeskip, you aren’t going to have options. It’s only after the second timeskip (and an update to the most recent version of the software so you aren’t using the base game. This is because the 1.10 patch added the feature.

If your game is updated, you’re good to go. Head to the hideaway hub. Go to the Arete Stone that is across from Charon’s Toll and near Clive’s room. You’ll want to select the last option in this list, which is “Appearance.” (It is right under “Final Chronolith Trials.”) It then offers two sections of options to choose from. One lets you change the armor for Clive, Jill, Joshua, Torgal, and Ambrosia. The other lets you change the glamour for Clive’s weapon. (I found this is a good way of “using” the Onion Sword or Buster Sword if your level is too high for them to be worth equipping.)

Which costumes are available for characters in Final Fantasy XVI?

Like I mentioned before, you have Clive, Jill, Joshua, Torgal, and Ambrosia extra clothing options to use in Final Fantasy XVI. There’s only one for each character. All of them are free and were included in the 1.10 update.

Here’s the list of what’s available:

  • Ambrosia: Rosasian Gold
  • Clive Rosfield: Burnt Black
  • Jill Warrick: Snow White
  • Joshua Rosfield
  • Torgal: Icy Blue

And this is how they look:

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PS5, and the Echoes of the Fallen DLC is out now. A PC version and The Rising Tide add-on are also on the way.
