Almost immediately after starting Unicorn Overlord, you can head back to the Isle of Palevia to catch some lost birds in “Palevia’s Escaped Chickens.” While they aren’t hard to find, approaching them correctly might take you a few minutes.
How do I catch the chickens for Unicorn Overlord “Palevia’s Escaped Chickens” quest?
First, make deliveries at Ouvrir Harbor until it is at one star and you can choose the Board Ship option. You can do this immediately after completing the battle that triggers after landing on the mainland. Get on the ship and return to the island.
Right away, you’ll notice some brown chickens running around. If you catch up to one and talk to it, it will go “bawk” and disappear. Head up north to the person standing outside of Palevia Town. He’ll ask you to catch the four chickens that escaped.
This is a very easy task, honestly. All you need to do is hold down the dash button, then press the confirm button when you are right next to the chicken. So on the Switch, I’d hold B to make Alain run, then press A to get the chicken. While doing this before taking the quest would result in talking to the chicken, now it catches it.

The fourth chicken, which is the one just outside of town, is the challenging one though! This is because if you try and get it when approaching from the west, I found it will just… run right into the ocean and disappear. So what I recommend doing is going past it. Go catch the one along the eastern coast. Head north a bit, to retrigger the final chicken’s appearance near the town gate, then slowly walk south toward it. When you see the blue question mark, inch closely. Then, hold down the button to dash and chase it north. Do it right, and you’ll catch it right near the church like I did in this screenshot.
Your reward for finishing the “Palevia’s Escaped Chickens” Unicorn Overlord Overworld Quest is 5 Renown, 1 Honors, 1 Golden Egg, and 1 Free Meal Ticket. The ticket can be used at a Tavern to help build Rapport between characters. The Golden Egg is an accessory that makes the unit earn +100% more gold.
