In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you could build Link a home by completing the Tarrey Town questline. While that same building is in the sequel, he sadly cannot live in it. So here’s how to build Link a new house in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
So, how do I build a house in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
Like before, it all involves on Tarrey Town, located on a small island in the middle of Lake Akkala. Speak to Hudson and Rhondson who, if you played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you saw fall in love and become married. Aw!
The couple will explain that they now have a child named Mattison, who wants to celebrate her heritage by going on a pilgrimage to living alone in Gerudo Town. You’ll receive the “Mattison’s Independence” side quest.
To build a house in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to complete this. It’s fairly straightforward. Speak to Mattison in her room, answer “Vaba!” to the Gerudo quiz question, and help her reach the railcart unseen. Once this is done, hand Hudson five Sundelions, and you’re all set.
OK, that’s done. Now can I build Link a house?
Yes! Once Mattison sets off for Gerudo Town, speak to Rhondson and hand her 1,500 Rupees to buy a plot of land just outside Tarrey Town. To find it, head north from Rasitakiwak Shrine, where you’ll see Grantéson behind a wooden stall.

Talk to him to start building Link’s house. To do this, buy and place room cubes using the Ultrahand ability. There are many different rooms that you can place, such as a bedroom, kitchen, and a paddock for your horse. You can even have an upstairs if you wish!
Note that you can only have 15 units placed at once, so you can’t make Link a mansion the size of Hyrule Castle. Believe me, I tried. Still, it’s much more customizable than the house in Breath of the Wild.
