Because Shadowbeak is one of the rarest spawns in Palworld, it’s easier to obtain the Flying Pal through breeding if you know how to do it. Here is how to breed Shadowbeak in Palworld and where to find them on the overworld map.

How to breed Shadowbeak in Palworld – breeding combinations

Many players will encounter Shadowbeak for the first time after battling Palworld boss Victor. Following the intense showdown, you may wonder where to find the epic flying Pal. Unfortunately, Shadowbeak is a rare spawn in Palworld and can only be found in a late-game level 50 area. Thankfully, there is an easier way to obtain him by breeding.

Here are the breeding combos that make Shadowbeak in Palworld:

  • Astegon x Kitsun.
    • Astegon can be bred with Grizzbolt x Cryolinx.
    • Kitsun can be bred with Penking x Rushoar.

Palworld Kitsun Location

The first Pal you need to get to breed Shadowbeak is Kitsun. The beautiful fox is a bit tricky to track down, as it’s a night-time exclusive Pal. Another hurdle to clear is that you must have cold-resistant armor, a torch, or a fire-based Pal mount to keep from freezing. Kitsun can be found near the Free Pal Alliance Tower fast travel point in Palworld, during the nighttime.

After you warp to the Free Pal Alliance Tower, immediately equip your torch or fire-based Pal mount to warm up. Next, explore the area listed on the map above until you see the giant Fire Fox walking around in the snow. It’s hard to miss, as it has beautiful blue flames around its neck.

Palworld Astegon Location

Astegon is a higher-level spawn. So, if you are too under-leveled to take it on, make sure to check out our How to Breed Astegon in Palworld guide. If you don’t have the Pals needed to breed it, we got you covered. Astegon can be found in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in Palworld, north of the Dessicated Desert.

The quickest way to find the Dragon Pal is to warp to the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point. I recommend using one of the flying mounts in Palworld to quickly travel over the ocean to reach the sanctuary. Astegon is a rare spawn here, so if you don’t see it, fly back over the ocean to reset the area’s spawns, and then fly back until you see the Pal.

Now that you have at least one Male and Female Astegon and Kitsun, you must unlock the Breeding Farm at level 19. With everything ready, below are the steps you can take to breed Shadowbeak:

  • Reach level 19 with your character and unlock the Breeding Farm from the Technology menu.
  • Find a large area in your camp to build the Breeding Farm with 50 Fiber, 100 Wood, and 20 Stone.
  • Craft a Cooking Pot at your base camp with 3 Flame Organs, 20 Woord, and 15 Ingot.
  • Next, use the Cooking Pot to bake a Cake, which can be crafted with 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, and 2 Honey.
  • Catch Astegon and Kitsun (one must be Male and the other Female. It Doesn’t matter which one.)
  • Assign Astegon and Kitsun to your Breeding Farm. You can do this by lifting each Pal up and throwing them over the farm’s fence.
  • Place the cake you baked in the wooden box that is attached to your Breeding Farm.
  • Wait four minutes until the breeding meter is filled up.
  • A Huge Egg will eventually appear next to Astegon and Kitsun.
  • Pick up the Huge Egg, place it in an Egg Incubator at camp, and wait for it to hatch.
  • How long Shadowbeak takes to hatch depends on the World Settings each player has set. It could take two seconds or as long as five hours.

Palworld Shadowbeak location

If you are level 45 to 50, it might actually be quicker to just go catch the Flying Pal. Shadowbeak can be found in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in Palworld, north of the Dessicated Desert. The quickest way to find the Pal is to warp to the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point and then use a flying mount to fly across the ocean.

Just like Astegon, Shadowbeak is a rare spawn here, and it may take you a couple of minutes before it appears. The best strategy is to hop on a flying or swimming mount again and head back into the ocean to reset the Sanctuary’s spawns. Keep re-entering the area until you see a Shadowbeak roaming around the overworld.

Because it spawns in at level 44, you are going to need at least a Legendary Sphere to catch Shadowbeak. The high-level Sphere can be unlocked in your Technology menu at level 44. Once you get its health down to 10%, keep spamming the Legendary Sphere at it until you catch it.

Given how tough it is to catch Shadowbeak, most players should take advantage of the game’s breeding feature. However, obtaining Astegon is the hardest part to pulling this off. Given that it’s also a high-level spawn, that’s another Pal that you should consider breeding. However, once you have both Astegon and Kitsun, obtaining Shadowbeak is pretty easy and worth it since it’s one of the best flying mounts in the game.

Palworld is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
