In Genshin Impact, you need to use a specific attack to break the Electro Crystals scattered throughout Teyvat. The special minerals can be turned into crafting material after being mined. However, it might not be obvious how to safely destroy them. You just need one type of element: Pyro.

How do I break Electro Crystals in Genshin Impact?

Even though I’ve now put thousands of hours into Genshin Impact, I still remember the first time I encountered an Electro Crystal on the rolling plains of Mondstadt. After throwing every character and attack at them, the pesky crystals continued to defeat me with their electricity. To break Electro Crystals in Genshin Impact, you need to use a Pyro character or a fire-based attack.

Electro Crystals are broken down with Overload reactions, which are triggered when you combine both Electro and Pyro elements together. Because of how Overload works, the crystals will explode the second one of your Pyro-based attacks comes into contact with it. Trust me; it’s as satisfying as it sounds.

Here’s every character that can break Electro Crystals in Genshin Impact:

  • Dehya.
  • Diluc.
  • Hu Tao.
  • Klee.
  • Yoimiya.
  • Amber.
  • Bennett.
  • Thoma.
  • Xiangling.
  • Xinyan.
  • Yanfei.

Although any Pyro character can break Electro Crystals, it’s recommended that you use characters with ranged attacks to avoid taking shock damage. With the best Klee Weapons build, the 5-star is a great choice to farm the mineral due to her explosive bombs. For free-to-play users, Amber works perfectly with her fire-infused arrows.

With the upcoming release of the Genshin Impact 4.0 update, Fontaine 5-Star Hero Lyney will be another character players can use to obliterate Electro Crystals. The new character is a crafty magician with Pyro-based attacks.

Genshin Impact is free-to-play now on the PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and iOS and Android devices.
