The Parade Master is the first real boss you’ll enounter in Lies of P. While he is intimidating, he shouldn’t be more than a speed bump if you’ve mastered guarding and health regaining. But if you do need a little help to clown on this circus puppet, here’s a guide on how to beat the Parade Master boss in Lies of P.

The first thing to know is a lot of his attacks are very easy to perfect guard, more so than some of the regular puppets you will have faced before now. It’s worth taking a few attempts to learn when to hit that timing for the Parade Master boss, since it will save you some health in subsequent attempts or at worst get you used to guarding more than dodging, which Lies of P tends to encourage.

As for the Parade Master attacks, the main one to look out for is his red-glowing frenzy attack. I found you can either get out of the way it of or guard by pressing the button as his knees fall to the ground. His belly flop attack is fairly easily sidestepped, but watch out for an arm sweep with a similar looking wind-up.

When his health bar glows white, you will be able to interrupt him with a charged heavy or Fable Art attack. Just be choosy with your openings, as it’s not worth losing a chunk of health over. You’ll get plenty more opportunities to deal damage in this fight.

At around 50-60%, he’ll toss down his cage and tear off his own head to use as a club. His attacks get slightly longer ranged and a fair bit more aggressive in this phase, but don’t panic. They’re still not too hard to guard. His transition animation is actually a great time to get some hits in, just be careful to not get hit as he throws the cage down.

Watch out for his 2-3 hit combo, as it has a sneaky extra attack that looks like he’s resetting to neutral, but can actually hit you with a very fast mace flourish if you’re too close to his weapon-arm. Be careful too if you back up to heal or sharpen your weapon, as he has a bounding swing that closes the gap and combos into his other swings.

Finally, don’t forget to use all the damage sources at your disposal if you’re struggling. You only have a few attacks with your Legion Arm, but a couple of well-charged punches will put a dent in his health. Similarly, the merchant sells Throwing Cells and Electric Blitz Abrasives that can supplement your attacks with Shock Damage, along with any canisters of Thermite you may have found along the way. Put all these to good use, and the Parade Master should be no problem for you.

Lies of P is will release on September 19, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
