New weapons are available in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Phantom Liberty, some of which are known as “illegal weapons.” Don’t let this strange name fool you, as the nature of them means almost nothing. Illegal weapons are just the names for some of the forbidden weapons the enemies in the new Phantom Liberty area of Dogtown wield. Other than that, they act like normal weapons.

All new illegal weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

There are seven new weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty that we have found so far, known as illegal weapons. You’ll need the new Phantom Liberty DLC and to visit Dogtown before you can get any of these. But once you do, you’ll be able to take them back to the main game and the rest of Night City to use them. You can find most of these weapons as loot from enemies, containers, and even as rewards from events.

Here are the seven basic new weapons you need to know about, some of which are illegal and many of which have unique special named variants:

  • Grit: This yellow automatic pistol fires exceedingly fast for a pistol. Not the most accurate but with decent range, making it like a compact SMG.
  • Hercules: This is a special weapon reminiscent of a nail gun meets minigun. It shoots surprisingly fast and accurate.
  • Order: This double barrel shotgun is deadly with hefty power but a slow rate of fire.
  • Osprey: This powerful sniper rifle is slow but has a lot of bullets in a single magazine so you can fire for a long time.
  • Rasetsu: This is the other new sniper rifle. It is a bit faster than the Osprey but can be modded well for flexibility.
  • Warden: The new SMG in this game has an uncanny rate of fire, even for an SMG. It also has solid range and is my favorite new gun in the DLC.
  • Thermal Katana: This heated Japanese sword slice through foes with ease and deals a ton of damage. This is my other favorite weapon in the DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
