Ubisoft have shared more information on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. As previously reported, the game will take place in the 18th century, and will put you in the boots of Edward Kenway, an ex-Royal Navy man-turned-pirate. Here’s a couple more details about the game from a press release Ubisoft put out today:

− Assassinate Templars in blossoming cities

− Search for treasure in lost ruins
− Escape to hidden coves

Command your ship, the Jackdaw, and strike fear in all who see her. Plunder and pillage to upgrade the Jackdaw with ammunition and equipment needed to fight off enemy ships. The ship`s improvements are critical to Edward’s progression through the game. Attack and seamlessly board massive galleons, recruit sailors to join your crew and embark on an epic and infamous adventure.
Ubisoft also explain the roles that Templars and Assassins play in the game. In Assassin’s Creed IV, Templars are searching for a mysterious place that, according to rumours, could give them an an advantage against the Assassins, and help them achieve world domination. However, the Assassins have plans of their own, and Edward somehow factors into them.
Ubisoft have Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag planned for release on the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PlayStation 4 and “other next generation consoles”. The Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U versions will be available on October 29th in North America and November 1st in Europe.
