Players choose two out of nine available heroes and set out to find their lost king. The world is generated differently on each run, so every playthrough can result in new meetings, new fights, and new situations. When a hero dies they are gone forever, though, and should players lose them all, it’s back to the beginning of the game.

Players can make new allies along the way to grow their group of heroes, gaining help from one of the 36 available companions by surviving danger or through careful, diplomatic conversation. Players will also be able to make story choices that affect their companions and the narrative arc of the game.
