Here’s Korea’s Take On Ninja Games

Recommended Videos

Fireworks Man is a Korean-developed ninja action game for smartphones. The fast and furious game has players as ninjas on a quest to take down an unknown enemy force in this side-scrolling title.

White, Bluebear and Shadow are the three characters you’ll be able to select, each with their own playstyle and movesets. Shadow is the most balanced of the three, offering a mix of speed and offense. Bluebear’s the lumbering lummox of a ninja (how do these guys pass a ninja test?) who’s all muscle, while White is a ghost with speed.

You’ll need to complete stages and overcome bosses such as a gigantic Buddha-style statue to advance.

As you progress, building up combos and going through adventure mode, you’ll also get item drops which you can then craft into better weapons and equipment. You’ll also earn cash to buy upgrades for your characters, which you can of course skip grinding for with in-app purchases.

You can then take your character online in player-versus-player battles (though it’s unclear if it’s head to head or against an online ghost AI) to see whose ninja is the most… ninja-ish.

Fireworks Man is out now on iOS and Android. You’ll also need Kakao—a messaging program similar to WhatsApp or Line—to log in.
