Gallagher Teams in Honkai: Star Rail Take Advantage of Debuffs

As an Abundance character in Honkai: Star Rail, Gallagher will fit on teams as a healer and sustain. Due to the nature of his kit, he works best against enemies with lots of HP.

Like Huohuo, Gallagher is a combination support and healer character. His healing comes from his Skill, as well as his Ultimate. After he uses his Ultimate, he inflicts the Besotted debuff on enemies. When allies attack a Besotted enemy, they will deal more Break DMG, as well as restore HP. In that sense, he’s somewhat similar to Luocha, except the attacking character only heals themself, rather than the whole team. Once you unlock his Bottoms Up Trace, he’ll be able to restore HP for everyone with his Enhanced Basic Attack, though.

When making your Gallagher teams in Honkai: Star Rail, you should remember that he can debuff enemies and relies on his Break Effect. This can help you to think of who synergizes with him. As another note, Gallagher is not impressive until you start unlocking his Traces, so I suggest doing so before using him in high difficulty content.

Here are some teams you can consider for Gallagher in Honkai: Star Rail:

  • Firefly | Ruan Mei | Harmony Trailblazer | Gallagher
Gallagher is one of the optional options for a Firefly hyper carry team because of his Break Effect bonus and his Besotted state. He synergizes very well with the overall niche of this team and can make use of the Fire Weakness Firefly plants in enemies. If you don’t have Ruan Mei, you can replace her with Pela.
  • Acheron | Silver Wolf | Pela | Gallagher
In a team with Acheron, you’ll want to have more Nihility units than Harmony due to her Traces. Gallagher will work as both the support and the sustain in this team. Because he can debuff the enemy with Nectar Blitz (enhanced Basic Attack) and Champagne Etiquette (his Ultimate), he can help Acheron get her stacks for her Ultimate.
  • Dr. Ratio | Ruan Mei | Pela | Gallagher
Like the above team, you can replace Ruan Mei with a Nihility in order to allow Dr. Ratio more chances to use his follow-up attack. Again, like with Acheron, Gallagher can help to debuff the enemies with Nectar Blitz and Champagne Etiquette. This in turn will increase the chances of Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack activating. Ruan Mei is around not only for Dr. Ratio, but for Gallagher as well. She can passively increase his Break Effect, which can affect his Outgoing Healing if you have the Novel Concoction Trace.
  • Himeko | Asta | Silver Wolf | Gallagher
This is a mono Fire team, in which Silver Wolf can implant the Weakness if the enemy doesn’t have it already. If you know you’re going up against an enemy that already has a Fire Weakness, you can replace her with another character like Topaz or Trailblazer (Fire). Of course, you can also use a non-Fire character like Ruan Mei or Pela depending on your needs and preference. As you can imagine, Gallagher will work as the support and sustain on the team.
  • Xueyi | Ruan Mei | Huohuo | Gallagher
You honestly can replace Huohuo with Tingyun if you want, since it can be nonsensical to have two Abundance characters in the same team. However, because so much of Gallagher’s usability comes from him using his Ultimate, I personally use Huohuo to help him out. While Tingyun is fantastic, her Ultimate is better for restoring the DPS’s (Xueyi’s, in this case) Energy. Xueyi operates on both follow-up attacks and Break Effect/Break DMG, so the combination of Ruan Mei and Gallagher is very powerful for her.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can always pull for Gallagher because he is a 4-star character.
