You need to go through a lot to gain access to the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Little Twin Stars characters Kiki and Lala, as their “Stargazing” mission didn’t immediately appear for everyone once the update went live in August 2023. Both characters show up in the main campaign. However, since it involves some “endgame” elements, you need to do a lot first to gain access to the two new friends. That also means the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Cloud Island Plaza and its items are gated off until that’s done.
Which quests unlock the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Little Twin Stars characters?
Basically, you need to “beat” the game to gain access to the Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala characters and their Cloud Island Plaza region. This means that unlocking them involves a lot of the same steps as unlocking Big Challenges and TOPHAT.
I had all of the following missions completed before the “Stargazing” quest first showed up in my list of possible activities.
- “Bring Back the Swing”
- “A Challenging Rescue”
- “Comic Relief”
- “Enraging Ruins”
- “Fire Up the Volcano”
- “Happy Landings”
- “Meet the Island Beings”
- “Open the Nature Preserve”
- “Parched”
- “Power Up the Gate”
- “Re-Haunt the Spooky Swamp”
- “Reef Revival”
- “Revive the Oasis”
Once all of those are done, there is one more quest you might need to do. If you haven’t befriended Hello Kitty and gotten your relationship up to level 17, you need to do that to gain access to the “Stargazing” quest. This is because she’s the main quest giver and contact for that portion, so her “Baker’s Assistant” quest needs to be completed first. The best gift for her is the Red Bow Apple Pie, which you can bake in the oven in her shop with an apple, flour, and magma bloom. That’s a three-heart gift. However, the two-heart Mama’s Apple Piece, which only uses apples and flour, isn’t a bad option either.
Where to go for the Hello Kitty Island Adventure “Stargazing” quest to unlock Cloud Island Plaza
If you completed all the prerequisites, then you need to wait for night to fall in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. You need to meet Hello Kitty in the middle of Moon Island. She’s right near the Moon Island fast travel mailbox location. After a story scene, you’ll learn the “sky is falling.” Five Sky Fragments landed around the different regions. You’ll get the first one immediately as part of the cutscene, but the other four are scattered around the map.
Fortunately, getting them is pretty easy. You just need to have a short conversation with a character at each spot to “get” the item. You can visit them in any order you want. Here’s the full list of who you need to speak to and where:
- Badtz Maru, who is near the Mount Hothead mailbox.
- Keroppi, who is near the Oasis mailbox.
- Kuromi, who is near the Spooky Swamp mailbox.
- Retsuko, who is near the Comedy Club mailbox. If I remember right, it was actually Hangyodon who I talked to inside the club to get the star.
Here are screenshots showing the map locations for all four.
Once you’ve spoken to all three, use the Moon Island fast travel point to head to Hello Kitty. Check in with her, and the stars will combine. This unlocks an means of reaching the Cloud Island Plaza in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, as well as the Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala. You’ll see a story segment after you speak with both.
When that’s done, remember to head to the larger part of the island near the broken down furniture booth to activate the Cloud Island Plaza mailbox fast travel point.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on Apple Arcade for iOS devices and Macs.
