Harvest Moon 64 Takes Root On The Nintendo Wii U’s Virtual Console

North America’s Virtual Console only has one new game arriving on it this week, but it’s a good one. Nintendo Wii U owners can now pick up Harvest Moon 64. Originally released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, this installment brings us to Flower Bud Village, where players can  set up a homestead and marry classic bachelorettes like Popuri, Maria, Ann, Karen, and Elli.

Harvest Moon 64 is the fourth game in the series and features characters and festivals that return in both Harvest Moon: Back to Nature and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. You have just over two years to get your deceased grandfather’s farm profitable again. There are 10 different crops you can plant and cows, chickens, and sheep are available as livestock. There is no option to choose your gender at the game’s outset.

Don’t forget about Harvest Moon 64’s helpful glitches, should you decide to pick up and play again. If you go to bet on a dog or horse race, then press be instead of confirming, the game should still behave as though you bet without taking your money. You can then still win medals. Also, it’s possible to marry Karen quickly by picking up your dog, heading over to Karen, and repeatedly talking to her while you have the dog in your arms.

Harvest Moon 64 is $9.99 on the North American eShop.
