Hands on Ninety Nine Nights

Over at Microsoft’s booth are a few stations with N3: Ninety Nine Nights around. We dropped by to take a look at Q? Entertainment’s title and the progress of its localization. The Ninety Nine Nights demo only had Inphyy, a sword wielding heroine to try out. The gameplay is like Dynasty Warriors on steroids. N3 sports larger battle fields and an insane amount of enemies to fight. To aid your quest is your own army that follows you around. The combo system in N3 is basic. Inphyy has a light attack and a heavy attack that can be alternated to create different combos. As Inphyy’s level increases she gains more attacks and extended combos. After beating a level in the game it’s easy to see why people love or hate Ninety Nine Nights. The game is often criticized for being brainless action. There weren’t any puzzles to solve in the demo and the difficulty was so tame that you could play the game blindfolded. On the other hand N3’s gameplay is designed for the hardcore gamer who likes to see how high a combo they can get instead of focusing on exploration. As an action game N3 is quite entertaining, even if it is not as revolutionary as it sounded.
