Back in 2017, HAL Laboratory released Part Time UFO, a cute, small-scale smartphone title that also happened to be their first self-published game in 25 years. The game was part of their new “HAL Egg” brand of creative outbursts, and the second game has been revealed to be Housuu de Shoubu! Kame Sanpo (lit. ‘Showdown with Footsteps! Turtle Walk’, English title to change.)

Essentially, this game will use your smartphone as a pedometer, and using these steps you’ll progress in races against various turtles, putting your exercise to work. By beating them in races, they’ll warm up to you and become your friends, and will help you out when you’re in need.

But what about days where you don’t really have the time to walk around? It turns out, you can play dirty, and use various items to slow down the Turtle, including a Boost, a Fishing Rod to pull it back, Barricades, and Tickets where you can ask your Turtle friends to race for you.

Here’s a look at some Turtles:

Urashima

The game will be free to play with microtransactions, with the latter coming into effect mainly where you’d expect – the items. So far, the game is only available for pre-registering in Japan, and can be found on the App Store and Google Play Store in the Japanese regions.
