The long-running Japanese card-based arcade game Gundam Try Age is entering its final phase. Bandai Namco announced through the game’s official Twitter account that its services will be shut down soon. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]
The company will launch Gundam Try Age Evol Boost!! 05, the final version of the game, on March 11, 2021. This version will be active until May 31, 2021, after which all single-player and network modes will become unavailable.
The first version of the arcade game was launched in July 2011, around the time Mobile Suit Gundam AGE was about to be aired in October 2011. It received new version upgrades every two months, adding a plethora of Mobile Suits from various Gundam titles for over nine years. Bandai Namco also released a console game adaptation titled Gundam Try Age SP for Nintendo 3DS in July 2014. With its plug set to be pulled in May 2021, Try Age will fall very short of its 10th anniversary.
Gundam Try Age will be effectively replaced by Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base, a real-time strategy card game revealed recently on January 28, 2021. In the near future, the Arsenal Base website will open a campaign page where Try Age players can input their IC cards to obtain a digital item based on their final ranks and a promotional card that can be used in the new game. It is important to note that Arsenal Base will not support old cards from Try Age.
Bandai Namco plans to reveal more information on Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base, the successor to Try Age, in early March 2021. The first location test for Arsenal Base is currently scheduled to take place in late March 2021.
