Gundam Seed: Freedom Movie Made Over $2.877 Million So Far

The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom movie will stop appearing in Japanese theaters on May 23, 2024. Sunrise also announced how much money the movie has made domestically so far, noting it is about $2.877 million. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

According to Sunrise, in the 95 days since the movie came out, it’s made over 4.52 billion JPY. That would be around $2.877 million. Around 2.69 million people went to go see it. Closer to the end of the theatrical run, Sunrise will start releasing SNS icons and smartphone backgrounds to celebrate the film and achievement. These will consist of characters portraits, organization logos, Mobile Suits, and key visuals.

On May 18, 2024, there will be special finale showings at the Marunouchi Piccadilly. During this time, voice actors and key staff from the show will appear on stage to greet viewers. The 2:00 PM showing will focus on Kira and Cagalli’s birthday celebration. The 5:45 PM one will have the main voice actors and the director appear to greet everyone.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom first started airing in Japan on January 26, 2024. It is a new movie set in the Cosmic Era, taking place after the events of Destiny. Lacus is now the leader of Compass, which is a world peace monitoring organization. However, while things seem peaceful on the surface, a new conflict is brewing underneath.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom is still airing in theaters in Japan.
