The closed beta test will feature 12 mobile suits currently listed on the official site: RX-78-2 Gundam, Guntank, GM, Pale Rider, GM Sniper II, Methuss, Zaku II, Sazabi, Dom Trooper, Asshimar, Gundam Barbatos, and Turn A Gundam. The first version will also come with three stage rules:

  1. Point Capture – The offense team will try to capture targeted locations in order within a time limit. The teams will switch sides in the next round.
  2. Domination – Both teams will rack up points by occupying specified locations marked randomly as time passes by.
  3. Destruction – The offense team will try to destroy specified targets within a time limit. Just like Point Capture, the teams will switch roles in the following round.

Bandai Namco Online designed Gundam Evolution in such a way that will let first-person shooter esports players enjoy the game even without much knowledge of the mecha franchise. Both of the Japanese pro esports players invited to the broadcast were not familiar with Gundam. However, they still displayed remarkable performance in the gameplay demonstration segment.

Gundam Evolution will be available as a free-to-play game for PCs in 2022 in Japan and many other regions worldwide. Bandai Namco will hold the first official closed beta test for Gundam Evolution in Japan on August 8-9, 2021.
