Here’s the full announcement, which was made on Twitter.

Sports Story update: We must sadly announce a delay. We want to take some more time to work on Sports Story and ensure that everything makes it into the game.

The game has become rather ambitious and we are excited about how it could turn out. But the price is currently being paid as we try to make our plans into reality. We are eager to reveal the results of these past 2 years so please look forward to future updates.

The delay was actually hinted at before the developer’s announcement. As Wario64 pointed out on August 13, 2020, the eShop product page release window changed from mid-2020 to TBD.

Sports Story first showed up during the December 2019 Nintendo Indie World presentation. While the original game focused on golf, with both standard golf, mini-golf, and even a take on the NES-style Golf game in there, this sequel would also add baseball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball to the mix.

Here’s its trailer, in case you missed it.

Sports Story is in development for the Nintendo Switch. Golf Story is available for the Nintendo Switch and its Galf minigame was briefly available for the NES.
