Legendary kaiju Godzilla is set to stride the Earth once again in the upcoming Godzilla: Singular Point anime, and it’s going to do so with a particularly buff set of gams. Netflix, via its NXonNetflix Twitter account, has revealed the monster design for the program:

The Godzilla: Singular Point design was created by by Eiji Yamamori and colored by Yuji Kaneko. It appears to take a few hints from the newer iterations of the classic monster’s appearance. The original Godzilla design was of course restrained by the need to adapt it to human physiology, given that an actor in a suit would have to play the role. This newest version is animated, and sports the nods to biological realism common to newer kaiju designs. Godzilla’s huge, muscled legs will support its considerable bulk in the classical upright position, but feature-wise it appears to blend elements of the classical, more monstrous looks from Shin Godzilla and the older films with the more animalistic, alligator-like morphology found in the Hollywood-led live-action movies Godzilla and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
The new design also comes right on time, as on February 2, 2021 Netflix unveiled a second Godzilla: Singular Point teaser trailer that didn’t offer a single look at Godzilla itself:
That teaser focused mainly on the human cast, a motley crew of tinkerers and outcasts investigating a series of disasters and kaiju appearances. In Singular Point, Godzilla itself appears to be a myth, or a nearly forgotten creature, called up again as kaiju like Rodan pose an increased threat. The humans also have their own weapon: the classic human-made hero mecha Jet Jaguar. This version of Jet Jaguar is also freed up to look less obviously human by the magic of animation. It also appears to be a piloted, home-made deal, with a mesh-door cockpit and surprisingly small dimensions (it’s definitely not Godzilla-sized, at least).
