Niantic announced that Pokemon GO will feature the Gas Pokemon Gastly for its July Community Day, based on the previous Community Poll where the Ghost and Poison Pokemon took the runner-up spot behind Weedle. The Gastly Community Day will be held on July 19, 2020 from 11am to 5pm at players’ local times.
As usual, Gastly will be appearing more frequently in the wild during the Community Day hours, and Shiny Gastly will be occasionally available if you’re lucky. If you evolve Haunter into Gengar during the event or two hours afterwards, Gengar will learn the special move Shadow Punch. (It isn’t normally available for the character.) There will also be an extra Special Research story available for $1 and a special July Community Day Box. Finally, Eggs will only take a quarter of the usual distance to hatch and Incense will last three hours when activated during the event.
In case you missed it, Pokemon GO is also celebrating its fourth anniversary beginning July 3, 2020. Flying Pikachu will be available via Raids and there are special Pokemon who will be wearing party hats. You can check out the entire list of celebratory events in our previous post here.
