Something from the Suikoden RPG series may be in the works, as Konami trademarked “Genso Suikogaiden” in Japan on October 5, 2020. Konami also trademarked Ganbare Goemon, known in the West as Mystical Ninja, on the same date. [Thanks, Gematsu.]

The title Genso Suikogaiden comes from the two-part visual novel spinoff of the Suikoden games. Konami released the visual novel title, Suikogaiden Volume 1: Swordsman of Harmonia, in September 2000 for the PlayStation. The company launched the second title, Genso Suikogaiden Volume 2: Duel at the Crystal Valley, in March 2001 for the PlayStation. Both text adventure games were released only in Japan and only available in Japanese.

The Suikoden series started in December 1995 with the first game for PlayStation. The main series has five numbered titles, with the latest being the February 2006-released Suikoden V for PlayStation 2. Several spin-offs were also released, starting with Suikogaiden Volume 1 in September 2000 and the latest with Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki released in Japan for the PSP in February 2012.

As for Ganbare Goemon, the series hasn’t seen a new game since the 2005-released Nintendo DS title, Ganbare Goemon: Tokai Dochu Oedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki.

Konami also trademarked “Emotional Voice System,” which is related to a system in the Tokimeki Memorial series. In case you missed it, Konami recently announced that Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 4th Heart is coming to Nintendo Switch.
