The developers of Genshin Impact, miHoYo, stocked up on PS5 consoles to hold a grand giveaway for its employees. The company handed out tech like PS5 consoles, Switch consoles, iPhones, and RTX GPUs to its employees via a lottery system. [Thanks, ZhugeEX!]
According to analyst Daniel Ahmad, miHoYo held the giveaway during its annual employee meeting. In the spirit of Genshin Impact, PS5s and other tech hardware were given away via a gacha system. The format wasn’t to be cheeky, though. The hardware was all in limited quantity (especially the PS5s), so it had to do the giveaway in this manner. The employee bonuses were a way of thanking the studio’s workers for the successful year the company had in 2020.
Daniel Ahmad stated in his tweets, “due to limited stock, they employed a lottery/gacha system.” Ahmad also clarified, “This system is just for these one-off gifts, not for any other financial compensation/bonuses they earn.”
Genshin Impact is available now for the PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch port is in the works.
