Video game developer and game development outsource studio Gameshastra recently opened a new facility in Hyderabad, India, as part of plans to expand their development ambitions. The studio, capable of housing 1,000 employees, will reach its threshold by the end of the year, according to Gameshastra CEO, Prakash Ahuja.
Currently at a headcount of 220 workers, Gameshastra have been primarily focused on developing PSP games in the form of Minis and a retail title named Desi Adda: Games of India, published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in India. Games of India will be making its way onto PSN for the PlayStation 3 soon. So far, the game has sold 10,000 units.
In the meantime, it would appear that production on a retail Playstation 3 title based on Indian mythology, Ekalavya, is also underway. A prototype for the game has already been completed, and Gameshastra plan to release the retail product sometime during 2011. In addition to this, Gameshastra plan to publish 16 other games by the end of 2010, one of which is a game based around bullock cart racing, also published by SCEE in India.
