The gamescom 2020 opening event has been dated. Geoff Keighley announced that gamescom Opening Night Live will be the last event for the four month long 2020 Summer Game Fest. It will begin on August 27, 2020. Then, the digital, virtual version of the event will run until August 30, 2020.
The official website has been updated to offer the new dates and some minor details about the event. In the description for this year’s Opening Night Live, it noted that there will again be “worldwide premieres.” The official press release mentioned this presentation and event will be preceded by the devcom digital conference 2020, which will begin on August 17, 2020 and run until the last day of the virtual event. The gamescom now hub site, which will be free to access, will be used for the digital events.
Even before gamescom 2020 was officially canceled in April 2020, it was set to be a year with more digital announcements and activities than before.
The gamescom 2020 events will begin on August 27, 2020 with Opening Night Live, then run online until August 30, 2020. It was originally going to run between August 25-29, 2020 at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.
