In A Game Center Far, Far Away…

Game Center CX is where all the retro people come to play. The series comes from a TV series in Japan where they sit a man down to play those brutally difficult old-school games and film him doing so. For the hell of it. And above, we get to see what some of the many games packed into Game Center CX: Arino in District 3, a game based on the TV show character, will be like.

All of them have some form of root within classic video games, like the original Mario Bros. meets Lode Runner style game where you’re a cleaning witch, Star Soldier-esque shooter and others. Each game also has some form of twist to it. Wing Hero, the above screenshot’s plucky airplane side-scroller, requires you to blow into the mic to shoot, for instance.

These don’t necessarily look like they’d take a lot to localize, but you gotta remember that the “main plot” points of helping Arino recover his memories might be the sticking point. Well, that and the first title didn’t do so well, which is a crime somewhere, I’m sure.

Game Center CX: Arino in District 3 has been delayed till March 20th. The game will be available for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan.
