A new Fullmetal Alchemist stage play adaptation is coming to Tokyo’s Nippon Seinenkan and Osaka’s Shin Kabukiza playhouse in March 2023. Formally titled Fullmetal Alchemist the Stage, it will adapt the story of Hiromu Arakawa’s iconic manga. Young stars will also play the Elric brothers, Winry, and other key figures from the tale. Square Enix and Marvelous are producing the Fullmetal Alchemist stage play, which is being directed by Sachiko Ishimaru. Ishimaru also wrote the script. Notably, several key roles are double-cast to two actors, including the lead role. Double-casting in plays is when two actors are cast in the same role and alternate performances. This is done to spread out opportunities to more actors, as well as to allow actors time to rest or accommodate schedules. Edward Elric will be played by actors Yohei Isshiki and Ryota Hirono. Shuto Mashima plays Alphonse Elric, with the suit actor Kosei Sakurada performing in Al’s trademark armor.
Check them out below. Yohei Isshiki is the Edward without a coat, while Ryota Hirono wears the red coat in the photo.
Other roles include AKB48’s Rin Okabe as Winry Rockbell, and actors Jin Aoki and Takuma Wada double-cast as Roy Mustang.
