Shonen Gangan has announced that Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa is penning a new manga series. While the announcement is part of the Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary project, it is unconfirmed whether the new series will be a direct sequel or have any relation to Fullmetal Alchemist. Arakawa made the announcement in the July 12, 2021 issue of Shonen Gangan, which revealed key information about upcoming projects relating to the 20th anniversary of Fullmetal Alchemist. The announcement also included a sketch drawn by Arakawa, depicting what looks to be an Eastern-style setting and a protagonist wielding a bow and quiver of arrows. Further information will be announced via future issues of Shonen Gangan, as well as through the magazine’s official website and Twitter.

Fullmetal Alchemist New Series

Other announcements include a new 20th-anniversary book that includes two decades worth of artwork, documents, and scripts from the series’ anime adaptation, movies, and video games. Additionally, it also revealed that the first three episodes of the anime will be available to watch for free on Square Enix’s official YouTube, from July 16, 2021, to July 29, 2021.

Lastly, Square Enix is hosting a Fullmetal Alchemist 20th anniversary broadcast on July 12, 2021, starting at 8 PM Japan Time (7 AM ET). The broadcast will reportedly feature major announcements, likely including further information about the upcoming new series.
