A new way to play Pac-Man will arrive in June 2020. As part of the 40th anniversary rollout of announcements and events, Bandai Namco revealed a version of the game that will actually be playable within Twitch. The free Pac-Man Live Studio will launch in June 2020 for PCs.
Here’s how it works. Someone will visit the official live Twitch channel, as noted on the website. When there, they’ll have access to four specific modes. Classic Mode is 1980s style Pac-Man for one person. Endless Mode will let between one and four people get as high a score as possible, but each person playing will only have one life per each stage. So if all people playing die on a stage, that’s it. Select Mode will let between one and four people play together on both classic and custom stages. Finally, Studio Mode will let people make their own stages, which will be shared by other people.
This is only one of many things that’s been going on to celebrate an icon series turning 40 years old. For example, North America received a Pac-Man Tamagotchi. Morinaga had a Pac-Man browser game. Bandai Namco gave away Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 as a Stay Home incentive.
Pac-Man Live Studio will be available for PC users to play on Twitch in June 2020.
