Cross-brand promotions aren’t unusual for Fortnite. Epic Games has built what was originally a tech demo for the Unreal Engine into one of the most popular games in the world. Fortnite played host to concerts from musicians Marshmello and Ariana Grande. There are evengs with many franchises and IPs. In addition to Marvel and DC superheroes, the game added Resident Evil stars Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as cosmetic skins in October 2021.
The Fortnite x Naruto Shippuden collaboration may have been outed as early as June 2021. Leaks suggested that Epic was in negotiations with Shueisha to produce collaborations based on popular anime and manga series. Shueisha owns Shonen Jump. That is the home publication of Naruto, Dragon Ball, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and One Piece.
As for what the collaboration holds, people can likely expect skins or other cosmetic items to be added to the game. Whether this means Naruto, Sasuke, and their ninja pals will be blasting away at Cammy and Aloy, or if there will be original designs based on the existing characters remains to be seen.
Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. The Fortnite Naruto Shippuden collaboration launches on November 16, 2021.
