Chun-Li and Ryu from Street Fighter are now available as playable characters in Epic Game’s free-to-play battle royale, Fortnite. The characters, and additional items, can be acquired through Fortnite’s in-game store.
Ryu will feature two separate costumes. Players will be able to select his classic white gi with red headband look, or they can opt to play as shirtless Ryu with a beard. A Training Bag Back Bling and a Shoryuken! Emote will accompany the character.
Meanwhile, Chun-Li players will be able to choose either her classic outfit or a Nostalgia Variant. Like Ryu, Chun-Li will come with extra items. In particular, purchasing Chun-Li nets the player a Super Cab-Masher Back Bling and a Lightning Kick! Emote.
In addition to these two characters, Epic Games will also be selling a Seven Star Flashing Flail Pickaxe for players to use in matches. A Signpost Pummeler and Sumo Torpedo Glider will be available for players who purchase the Ryu and Chun-Li Gear Bundle as well. There is also a new “Player Select!” Loading Screen included with purchases of the individual bundles.
These two characters are just the most recent in a string of cameos and guest characters featured throughout Fortnite’s multiple seasons. This list of cameos includes appearances by Thanos, Galactus, Thor, Predator, and the Mandalorian. Even Kirby managed to poke his head in on one occasion, although the reasoning behind that cameo isn’t exactly clear.
Fortnite is immediately available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It is also possible to install the game on Android devices through an APK that Epic Games distributes on its official website. Ryu and Chun-Li are both available in Fortnite now.
