Poképarks were a series of Pokémon themed amusement parks in Japan and Taiwan, consisting of rides such as ferris wheels and roller coasters, and a "Meowth Party Café" where you could order food. Both parks are now defunct, but PokéPark: Pikachu’s Big Adventure seems like it’ll carry on in the same spirit.
The game is basically a compilation of mini-events to participate in, such as pokémon races on land, water and air, and some sort of a pokémon quiz. You play as a Pikachu taking on the different events in the park, and you’ll need to make friends with other monsters and enlist their aid to get through them.
Unlike the other console entries, Pikachu’s Big Adventure has not been developed by Genius Sonority or Ambrella. Instead, it was handled by Creatures Inc., which is the company that publishes the Pokémon trading cards and toys. Lately, Creatures Inc. have also gotten into game development, having developed both Pokémon Ranger games for the DS. The company is currently presided over by — wait for it! — none other than Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka, the composer for Super Metroid.
Pikachu’s Big Adventure will be out in Japan on December 5 for 4,800 yen. The screenshots don’t look too bad but this is definitely a game aimed at the younger crowd, likely meant to give Wii sales a little push.
