Fire Emblem Engage Videos Show Roy Is Still Our Boy

Fire Emblem Engage Roy

Nintendo showcased Emblem Roy from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. He will appear in the upcoming Fire Emblem Engage, set to release on January 20, 2023. Roy is a brave and resourceful prince, in the tracks of becoming an intelligent lord. He is a balanced Emblem, capable of withstanding and dealing a lot of damage.

The Emblem Ring tied to Roy starts in possession of Diamant, leader and Crown Prince of Brodia and older brother of Alcryst. Roy is eager to fight alongside Diamant in protecting the peace that Brodia has been trying to achieve in their campaigns against Elusia and the Fell Dragon.

In Fire Emblem Engage Roy is an Emblem, a character that can be paired with regular units to enhance their stats and offer new ability options. Named the “Emblem of Binding,” Roy allows its user to survive hard-hitting attacks thanks to its powerful defensive options, along with offering powerful offensive area of effect attacks with his flames. Because of this, Roy is best suited as a frontline attacker and paired with vanguard fighters.

Thanks to his Link Skill Endurance, any unit using the Emblem of Binding can withstand mortal damage as long as their current HP is above 30% of their maximum. Lance Buster is Roy’s link weapon, and it allows him to revert the Weapon Triangle and easily defeat Lance users, which have an advantage against Swords under normal circumstances. His Engage Skill, Transcendence, temporarily increases the unit’s level and enhances their stats. Finally, Roy’s signature Engage Attack is called Young Lion’s Crimson Dancing Flame. It delivers a devastating fire attack over 3 spaces horizontally in front of him, creating scorching flames that prevents the enemy’s advance. If used by members of the Divine Dragon lineage, the attack range increases 3 spaces beyond its original.

Jun Fukuyama will voice Roy in the Japanese dub of Fire Emblem Engage. He is best known for his roles as Joker in Persona 5, Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass, and Iscarion Colchester in The Diofield Chronicle. We still don’t know who will voice Roy in the English dub.

Fire Emblem Engage will come out worldwide on January 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
